There’s a new shop in town
It is always a great shame when a shop closes, taking with it all the memories of the previous ownership and solid service to the main street over the decades. And so it was with Wilkins shoe shop at 16 Brook Street, Tavistock.
The shop was a bit special, sold quality shoes, and boots, and earned a fine reputation through the generations. The business has now closed as a shoe shop but has taken on a new lease of life, selling antiques and bygones. It is now called ‘Yesterdays.’
At the helm is Gill Abbots and our intrepid reporter says she hails from Okehampton, but we can forgive her that because it is a lovely shop full of fascinating relics of yesteryear and absolutely right for Tavistock.
